Early Life
Nightcrawler was born in Germany. Little is known about his early life, other than the fact that his mother died during childbirth and he was raised by a circus owner. Nightcrawler spent most of his time performing with the circus and it wasn’t until later when he met Wolverine that he learned how to be a hero. His father has the ability to teleport, and Nightcrawler learned this skill by watching him. We see that Nightcrawler can open a portal under himself like his father does in the very first issue of New X-Men when he teleports with other mutants before they go to Genosha.
New X-men
Nightcrawler was a member of the X-men before, but not for long. He left to join his father in Germany and was replaced by Beast. Nightcrawler returns years later when Professor Xavier recruits him along with Wolverine, Storm, Angel and others to form a new team of X-men. Klaus Wagner is the teleporter known as Nightcrawler. He’s a fairly important character in the series, but he didn’t appear on the cover of New X-men #114. That leads me to believe that they’re going to try and keep him around for a while. Nightcrawler is able to teleport himself anywhere in almost no time at all. He does this by using a portal under his feet, which he can also use to teleport other people and objects.
Personal Life
Like most of the X-men, Nightcrawler’s personal life consists of fighting bad guys and doing missions for Professor Xavier. He has, at some points in his life, had a relationship with Amanda Sefton. In her introduction into the Marvel Universe, she was a sorceress who used her powers to make herself appear as Nightcrawler. She would change back into her real form to fight alongside him against enemies like Arcade and Sabretooth. They have broken up since then, but in many of his appearances he has mentioned that they are still on good terms with each other.
